Pictobraille manufactures BCA compliant tactile and Braille signs which meet the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards guidelines. These guidelines include:
- Finish and Contrast
Characters must have a matte or low-sheen finish.
Characters must have a minimum 30% luminance contrast with the background.
- Tactile and Braille Signs
Toilet signs, bathroom signs and restroom signs must have raised characters and use Grade 1 Braille.
Tactile characters must be raised a minimum of 1.0mm and maximum of 1.5mm. Braille must be raised by criteria set out by the Australian Braille Authoritary.
- Use Approved Fonts
Characters must be in sentence case and use a font with consistant stroke thickness.
Toilet signs, bathroom signs and restroom signs font can be no less than 15mm high and no more than 55mm high.
