Frequently Asked Questions

Pictobraille Tactile & Braille Signs Australia

1. What colours are available?
Pictobraille is available in a wide range of colours. Our unique method of manufacturing allows for custom colours for backgrounds and/or text and icons.

2. What is the colour of stock signs?
Standard stocked signs are White Text / Icons on "Picto-Blue" Background.

3. Is it difficult to install Pictobraille signage?
No. We have designed Pictobraille with the end user in mind. All Pictobraille signs (unless requested by the customer), come with a fully covered self-adhesive backing so that you can simply peel off the backing tape and stick the sign to your flat surface. All orders also come with an installation sheet showing the correct position for your signs.

4. What happens if my surface is not flat?
As part of our product range, we are able to offer you acrylic and aluminium backing plates that you fix to your surface. This allows you to then mount your Pictobraille sign to the backing plate using the self-adhesive backing. (NB: Backing plates are not kept in stock at all times. Please notify the staff at Shapemakers that you require backing plates at the time of order)

5. What is the self-adhesive backing?
Our self-adhesive backing is a 0.2mm thick superior VHB double sided tape. It's PVC film core helps to elimate 'stretching' and 'tearing' that some self-adhesive tapes are prone to.

6. Is Pictobraille signage suited for Exterior Use?
Yes. Pictobraille (Standard Stock Range) is made from quality UV Stablised High Impact Acrylic which is suitable for both Internal and External use. The self-adhesive backing is also 'Age-Resistant' and produced 'Chemically-Free', therefore making it suitable for Exterior use.

7. What if the sign you require is not part of the stock range?
We specialise in Custom tactile and Braille signs and are happy to produce these for you.

8. Is Pictobraille imported from overseas?
No. All Pictobraille signage is produced by Shapemakers in-house in our factory at Moorooka (Brisbane, Queensland). This allows for us to have superior quality control over our tactile and Braille signs. It also avoids lengthy delivery periods experienced by those who import signs from overseas.

9. Is GST charged on Pictobraille signage?
Yes. As deemed by the Australian Tax Office, tactile and Braille signage is NOT GST-Free.

10. How do I order Pictobraille signage?
